Actizen ® – An initiative to create an active and alert citizen

Actizen is an initiative by ‘Desh Apnayen’ to create a sense of belongingness about the country
in the youth and make them a contributor to the country’s development.
The complete process is conducted by creating a citizen education contest which is a
competition for school students where they have to participate along with their teachers and
principals. The contest for middle school students includes getting the school students involved
in some kind of community service and finally coming up with a solution to the problem, and
top selected schools will be given Actizen rotating trophies for school, students and teachers
and a wonderful opportunity to feature in a short film directed by the team of the iconic film
‘Dangal’.

The complete Actizen contest is designed into two major stages keeping in mind how this
The movement will be helping young students of India get an idea about Citizenship education,
volunteerism, and sense of neighborhood.

The flow of the contest is divided in two phases.
1. As it is a competition for school students, the students, teachers, and schools need to
register themselves on the Actizen contest website.
2. Students need to watch a video based on 1 out of 5 themes and answer questions online.
3. Being a competition for middle school students, they have to select a community service
and perform it with the help of either parents or teachers and submit the proof online.
4. Students will have to fill in a sheet with their activity details, along with the proof, and
participating students will be given certificates which will complete Stage – 1 and they will be
through to Stage-2.
5. After Stage 2, the principal will have to select 4- 6 students and they have to come up with
a solution to a problem given as a task.
6. If the school gets selected in Top 10 in the citizenship education contest, the students will
get a chance to present the idea in Mumbai in the Great Jury round.
